FexIT -- business oriented search service from IcelandIcelanders present a new business portal and search service. By Lars Våge (January 11 2005) On January 6 2005 Sigridur Kristjansdottir and Sigurdur Arnorsson issued a press release about their new search service FexIT . We don’t often get to report on Icelandic search engine news and FexIT is certainly good news.
FexIT has several different points of entry on the start page and it seems a lot of time and effort has gone into making a good user interface. All the way to the left you find a search form for FexSEARCH, a metasearch engine that, as far as I can see, gets results from Teoma, HotBot, Wisenut och Netscape Search. In the middle of the start page you find a search form for FexDIRECTORY, their own web directory as it seems with 278 000 categorized web sites. FexWORDS is another interesting feature – a database of business related terms, phrases and acronyms. The site also includes FexNEWS – clustered news from quality sources, sorted by country or topic. The news topics are also available as RSS feeds. Their reasons for presenting four modes of accessing their directory – intelligent, fast, thorough, and comprehensive – are not clear to me nor what they mean. And their searches could be faster. But I really enjoyed exploring the acronym lists.
