Upcoming search engine conferences and workshops

Conferences

women(September 3 2004) Are you looking for the latest on the SE scene, itching to meet colleagues and competition or do you simply need some inspiration?

The Webmaster World discussion forum is organizing a new search engine marketing conference in Las Vegas on November 16 - 18. The Webmaster World conferences are known for the informal atmosphere and open discussions.

Originally these so-called "pub conferences" had no fixed agendas, as the idea was to skip the speeches and go right down to the networking. That has changed. Among the speakers at this years conference are well known search engine experts like Brett Tabke, Barry "MakeMeTop" Lloyd, Mike Grehan and Yahoo's Tim Mayer. See also Webmaster World discussion.

Some search engine marketers are obviously missing the old-fashioned "pub conferences" so much that they have decided to arrange their own informal gathering at the original waterhole in London. This new "SEORoadshow" takes place on on September 18 at the Citte of York Pub (see also Search Engine Watch discussion for invitation).

Pandia, being of Scandinavian origin, will take part in the next Search Engine Strategies conference in Stockholm on October 27 and 28. In the panels you will find experts like Danny Sullivan, Chris Sherman, Mike Grehan (again!) and Jill Whalen.

Note also the 1st European Internet Marketing Conference in Göteborg (Gothenburg), Sweden on October 11 and 12 2004.

The search engine marketing company WebSourced is hosting its own search engine marketing conference on October 26 in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. The conference is moderated by Pandia's guest writer, Andy Beal.

As we have said before -- the main reason for taking part in such venues is the networking. For some peculiar reason even search engine representatives become more informative over a glass of beer, and the gossip is good!

Workshops

Robin Nobles and John Alexander presents a new search engine workshop in Toronto in Canada on October 11 to 15. Unlike the search engine conferences mentioned above these are training sessions including a full SEO certification and 6 month mentoring program.

Nobles and Alexander are also responsible for the SEO workshop in London on September 28 - 30.

TNT Workshops arranges two day basic search engine optimization courses for people with no search engine marketing experience. They tell us it is totally non technical and that you do not have to be a web designer to attend.

The next courses are in Livonia, MI, USA on October 16 and 17.

Another course provider is Search Engine Marketing Road Show, which offers one day workshops in search engine optimization. There are courses in Washington D.C. on September 25, Boston September 28, Miami October 15 and Dallas October 19.

SEO expert Jill Whalen arranges her High Rankings Search Engine Marketing Seminar in Boston September 23 and 24. Jill is known for her pragmatic, hands-on, approach to search engine marketing.

If you do not have the opportunity to travel to take part in such workshops, you may also study search engine marketing online at the Search Engine College.

Web Search University

The Web Search University will arrange a new conference in Washington D.C. on September 27 and 28.

As the name implies this conference's main focus is on searching, not search engine optimization. Still there is one session on optimization held by Gary Price.

The Web University faculty includes highly respected search engine experts like Mary Ellen Bates, Tara Calishain, Greg Notess, Gary Price and Chris Sherman, which means that you get access to some of the best brains in this part of the knowledge industry.
