Upcoming search engine conferences and workshops, part 1

(May 12 2004) Are you looking for the latest on the SE scene, itching to meet colleagues and competition or do you simply need some inspiration? Why not check out some search engine conferences and workshops?

Here are some conferences taking place in the next few months:

Pubconference 6.5 in London June 4

Pubconference logo WebmasterWorld., one of the most influential forum for search engine optimizers and Internet marketers, will arrange a new so-called "Pubconference" at the famous Cittie of Yorke pub in London on June 4th.

More than 300 Webmasters and Internet search and marketing experts from around the world will gather to discuss the latest issues, technologies and developments and to meet delegates from the major search services including Google and Yahoo!

The event will feature representatives and exhibitors quite a few industry companies, including Positiontech, Overture, Search Engine Commando, and Go Toast.

“One of the unique aspects of Pubconference is this opportunity for face-to-face discussions with the major search services, suppliers of technology and, of course, to discuss current issues with Internet specialists and more than 300 of their peers,” says Brett Tabke, WebmasterWorld’s owner and conference organizer.

It was actually the Pandia team that came up with the term "pubconference". (Yes, it's true, ask Brett if you don't believe us) The original idea was to get away form the boring conference auditoriums and get right down to the important stuff: the networking.

Search Engine Strategies Conference London June 2 and 3

Danny Sullivan is probably the most well known and respected search engine expert around today, which makes his Search Engine Strategies Conferences all the more important.

The next SES conference is also in London, on June 2 and 3, which means that you can actually go to this conference on Wednesday and Thursday and join the Pubconference on Friday. (Whether it actually makes sense to arrange two such events back to back is another matter.)

Among the themes of the conference are "search engine marketing", "the European search landscape", "trusted feed case studies", "search term research and targeting", and "search engine friendly design"..

There will be another Search Engine Strategies conference in San Jose, California on August 2 to 5 2004, and in Stockholm in Sweden on October 27 to 28.

The workshops, which focus on search engine marketing and optimization, are organized in such a way that you can attend with others on your own experience level. The price includes support for six months.

You can now choose between a 2-day beginners workshop, a 3-day advanced workshop and a 5-day all-inclusive workshop.

Web Search University

The Web Search University will arrange a new conference in Washington D.C. on September 27 and 28. (Well, there is actually one going on today in New York).

As the name implies this conference's main focus is on searching, not search engine optimization. Still there is one session on optimization held by Gary Price.

The Web University faculty includes highly respected search engine experts like Mary Ellen Bates, Tara Calishain, Greg Notess, Gary Price and Chris Sherman, which means that you get access to some of the best brains in this part of the knowledge industry.
