New version of PagePromoter submission and ranking software

(October 9 2002) PagePromoter has announced version 5 of their search engine submission and ranking software

Among the new features mentioned are:

• Automatic submission to AltaVista (which is quite a feat given AltaVista's "ransom note" submission procedure)
• A new FTP uploader
• You can export submission, ranking and linkage results to Excel comma-separated values files for further analysis
• You can review earlier ranking results to check your standing
• There is a new registration system
• ...an updated tips and news module
• ...and a larger database with more major search engines
• The program is faster and uses less memory than previous versions

PagePromoter will submit to all the major search engines. However, like many applications of this kind, it offers support for a large number of search engines (10,000 in the Standard version and no less than 700,000 search engines in the Platinum version).

Given that there are not that many search engines in the world, this must mean that they have added so called "Free for all" (FFA) sites to their database.

Indeed, in their documentation, PagePromoter states that "You can set up the program to re-submit your site 1 time per month to the Search Engines and 1 time per week to the FFA sites, and you NEVER have to re-load that site for submission..."

Pandia strongly recommends that you do not submit your site to FFA services. They will send you a lot of spam, but practically no traffic.

Moreover, a listing on such pages may actually harm your standing in some of the major search engines.

Please also note that there is no need to resubmit your pages to the major search engines if they are already listed. Some of them may actually get a bit grumpy if you do that!

That being said, software like this may be of great help in keeping track of your submissions, and -- not least -- your rankings.

PagePromoter also includes a doorway page generator, a keyword density analyzer, a meta tag utility and a scheduler. Moreover, there is a "Spider Extractor" that will automatically pull your site's information into the software if you have meta tags in your pages.

PagePromoter is available for Win95, Win98, Win2000, NT, ME, XP and is fully functional with America Online. The standard version costs US$ 69,90, the Platinum version US$ 199,90. There is a free demo version available.

PagePromoter is located in Ukraine, a good example of the new Central European IT industry.
