So what is a pub conference, you might ask. It is a conference with no agenda and a lot of networking. SEO professionals from both sides of the Atlantic met up with starry eyed newbies as well as representatives from some important search engines for a day of mixing business and pleasure.
This novel concept for a "conference" originated in the posts of Webmaster World. One of the list moderators from the United States posted to say that he would be spending the weekend in London and was interested in meeting some European colleagues for a beer and a chat. A lot of people signed up in a short time, and before long the idea of a pub conference was borne and the domain was registered! All the practicalities were taken care of when sponsors turned up: TopDog Software and search engines GoTo UK and BT Looksmart. They rented the pub and even paid the bar tab.
"Great day, thanks to everyone I met, I picked up some great tips and was glad to meet some representatives from the top search engines." "I always thought there was to little time for networking at the other conferences. Here it was all networking."
The plans are already being made for a similar conference next year, and this great concept is to be exported to the US. The next Pub Conference will be held in Boston, and will most likely take place in September (although that will have to be a bar conference, doesn't it? :-). I hope that you can announce something here that will draw as much attention to the conference as the meeting that just took place. We will bring you snippets from the conversations in the time to come.

The first ever Internet Marketing Pub Conference took place on July22nd at the Cittie of Yorke pub in London's legal district. It was a big hit, and a new conference is being planned to be held in Boston this fall.
