Search1.x - new blog covering search tools
There is a new site presenting search engines and tools, with its own directory and discussion forum.
Felix Liao has a relatively new site devoted to web search, desktop search, image search — well, anything web search related really.
Search1.x contains a very informative blog covering search engine sites and technologies.
The blog design is a bit unusual, as it orders the post in a kind of newspaper layout. It works well, though, and there are quite a few interesting articles there already.
He has also included a directory of search engines. it is rather limited yet, but might turn into a very useful gateway to search engine tools and resources.
Moreover, he is taken the chance of launching his own discussion forum for search related issues. It is notoriously hard to generate enough debate to make such communities thrive, but we wish him good luck!
As the author has a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Computers) from the University of NSW Australia and is currently studying for his MBA he should have the background needed to run such a site.
In his own words: “I am a technology geek with a slight interest with the business side of things. More importantly, I have a insatiable appetite for information and hence my obsession with the wonderful world of search!”
Why Search 1.x ? We thought it stood for “Search one time”, as the site would help you find the right tools for the job. This is apparently not the case. Felix notes that the world of search has gone past version 1.0 but is arguable not quite at version 2.0 yet. So true, so true…
