Exploring the web and having some fun with StumbleUpon
If, like me, you spend hours and hours online every day, then your probably know how to find what you need using your browser, your bookmarks and your favorite search engine. But it wasn’t always like that.
Remember when the web was young and web surfing was fun – when you stumbled upon new and interesting sites by just rambling around? The Firefox plugin StumbleUpon brings the feeling of adventure and exploration back to your web surfing.
Once again Firefox brings the fun back into web searching. You have probably already discovered how this great browser can be made to meet your specific needs by adding convenient extensions. StumbleUpon is such an extension, except it is designed for fun more than for convenience.
StumbleUpon is a collaborative surfing tool for browsing, reviewing and sharing great sites with like-minded people. This helps you find interesting web pages you wouldn’t think to search for.
When you install the extension, you get to choose your fields of interest from a list of topics. You can change or supplement your topics from an entire directory of topics of all conceivable kinds.
StumbleUpon adds some buttons to your Firefox toolbar. When you click the Stumble button you are taken to a web site in one of your chosen topics.
You can then choose to rate or review the site for the benefit of other stumblers with interests similar to your own. You can also email URLs or invite friends so that others can share the fun.
