PicLens improves image search
PicLens is a Firefox add on that makes image search fun and easy.
You download the PicLens from its parent site CoolIris.
It is as easy to install as any other Firefox addon. Once you have restarted Firefox, you are good to go. Set out for your favorite image search site.
In the search results, an icon will appear in the images. Click it, and the rows of little thumbnails is transformed into a 3D slide show, filling your entire screen.
You can scroll in wall mode where hundreds of images march by as you move your mouse. If you want a closer look at any image, you can switch to full screen mode to have any image fill your browser window.
You can still scroll, using the play, pause, and skip controls at the bottom of the screen, almost like a YouTube movie.
In wall mode, there’s a search box that lets you search the sites supported by PicLens:
- Photo sites: Flickr, Photobucket, Picasa Web Albums, Fotki, FotoTime, deviantART, Smugmug
- Social networks: Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Hi5, Friendster
- Image search: Google Images, Yahoo Images, Ask Images, Live Images, AOL Images
You might also want to check out Link Preview, another tool from CoolIris.
