Welcome the new Pandia Search Engine News
Pandia redesigns its search engine news section, and starts using the Wordpress content management software.
Pandia has for several years delivered news about search engines, Internet searching and search engine marketing to its readers.
“If you want to stay up to date on online search tools and facilities, you must also keep track on what is happening in the search engine industry,” editors Per and Susanne Koch say. “We have always wanted to give our readers the most essential news in this area. Enough to keep you posted, but not so much that you drown in information.”
Pandia is a family business, and the couple do everything related to the site by themselves.
“This means that we have hand coded most of the pages ourselves, the Pandia Search World news column included,” Per says. “This works for most of the site, but we have found that the work of updating Pandia Search World ‘by hand’ has become too time consuming.”
This is why they now has opted for a database driven content management system for the search engine news section.
“We have now spent several weeks trying to adapt the Wordpress blog software to our needs, and we belive that we now — finally — have managed to get it to work the way we want it to.”
Pandia will publish a separate article on the transition in a week or two, including an analysis of the search engine friendliness (or unfriendliness) of the Wordpress system.
“Hopefully, everything will work for our visitors right away,” Susanne says, “but if they find any bugs, they should not hesitate to contact us.”
The Pandia RSS feed will get a new address, but most RSS readers should be redirected automatically. If not, the new feed can be found at www.pandia.com/sew/feed/. An Atom feed will be made available, and it will also be possible to subscribe to feeds that present separate news categories.
That’s right, Pandia will now sort its news items according to the type of content: searching, marketing, industry news etc.
“The same applies to our ‘recommended reading’ column,” Per says. Our favorite online articles will now be sorted into different categories, making it easier for our readers to find what they are looking for.
The Pandia Search World column will also change name to Pandia Search Engine News. “This makes the purpose of the column much clearer to the readers,” Susanne says. “Moreover, it makes more sense search engine optimization wise.”
The Pandia Search Engine News database now contains recent news items from June 1st onwards. Older news articles can be found in the “old archive”.
