The arrival of true broadband has turned the Internet into a realistic video distribution tool. The fact that Apple now is letting iTunes users rent videos online proves this point, as does the tremendous success of sites like YouTube.

It has been said that there are now 80,000,000 video clips online (a figure increasing by some 200,000 a week). 123 million Americans are consuming video online, generating 7 billion views a month.

Video content is, however, hard to identify, index and find. How can search engines determine what videos are about, if there is no accompanying text that can be used for identification purposes?

Moreover, given the great interest for video, how can video search be used for search marketing purposes?

Video Search News will arrange a conference on video search in April 8 and 9 in San Francisco, focusing on the following topics:

  • The Indexing Issue: On the latest indexing tools and methodologies.
  • The future of Video Search: Updates on the latest, cutting edge technologies that will be powering Video search in the next 12 – 18 months.
  • The Flash Challenge: Dealing with Flash and other dynamic players in video search.
  • User browsing experience: On the balance between search and browsing on your engine interface
  • Search results: On making search results accurate and relevant.
  • Monetizing video search.
  • Legal Issues: The legal minefield of intellectual property.
  • Optimize your content: On making the right deals and ensure that the right content is available on your search engine .
  • The future of online video advertising: What technologies exist to deliver relevant advertising to consumers of online video.

Among the speakers we find people like Suranga Chandratiilake, CEO of Blinkx, Chase Norlin, CEO of Pixsy and Mary Holder, CEO of Dabble.
