Pandia Weekend Wrap-up Nov 12
Pandia gives you some of the best search engine oriented articles and stories from last week. We also take a look at how to combine Ajax with search engine friendly design.
Michael Wyszomierski and Greg Grothaus of Google has an interesting article on the use of Ajax (dynamic web page coding) and search engine friendliness this week (A spider’s view of Web 2.0).
They say that although Google is getting better at interpreting javascript code, looking for links, your best bet for creating a site that’s crawl-able by Google and other search engines is to provide HTML links to your content.
They recommend the following design process:
“If you’re starting from scratch, one good approach is to build your site’s structure and navigation using only HTML. Then, once you have the site’s pages, links, and content in place, you can spice up the appearance and interface with Ajax. Googlebot will be happy looking at the HTML, while users with modern browsers can enjoy your Ajax bonuses.”
They also give examples of link coding that combines regular web links with javascript code.
