All-you-can-eat music deal from Yahoo!
(August 20 2005) Yahoo! has launched Yahoo! Music Unlimited. This is a subscription service where you pay 4.99 US dollars per month and get access to over 1 million songs.
You can listen to the songs on your PC or transfer them to compatible devices and you can buy burnable downloads for 0.79 US dollars. Subscription-compatible devices include Creative Zen, Dell, Samsung, iRiver and others.
Notice that iPod is not on the list of subscription-compatible devices. iPod users with Windows can transfer music they already own to an Apple iPod using the Yahoo! Music Engine.
As a subscriber to Yahoo! Music Unlimited, you can download Yahoo! Music Engine for free. You can use it to play, manage, rip, and burn music. You can also create playlists.
Be warned: The Yahoo! Music Unlimited web site could crash your Firefox browser.
