Contextual site ads from Yahoo!
(August 3 2005) Yahoo is ready to launch a beta version of a system for contextual advertising, not unlike Google’s AdSense, this according to DMNews.
Content Match contextual listings will make it possible to place Yahoo’s pay-per-click text ads on your site and, not to forget, to receive part of the revenue they generate.
Initially, Content Match will be available to Yahoo’s Publisher Network. This network will be expanded to include some small and midsize Web sites. For starters, this means some 2000 publishers, by invitation only. There are plans to expand the beta later this year.
The beta launch from Yahoo! raises loyalty issues — Google does not allow you to run competing contextual ad programs on the same site that Google AdSense is running.
