Find high quality video content online
There is a lot of great video content on the web, but it can be hard to find. TVBookmark is a directory, an aggregator and a search engine all in one, where you can explore a variety of web TV content or search specific themes or stories.
How does it work?
The sources are picked editorially — mostly from publisher and TV station website, but also from selected video blogs and channels from video platforms. These sources are combined with tailored crawling and indexing algorithms.
This two-pronged approach is designed to safeguard a certain level of quality for search results. It also provides nearly real-time results from a variety of sources. This can be especially useful when you are looking for news related topics, shows or documentaries.
On TV Bookmark you can search for videos using a regular search box with no bells or whistles. The results contain:
- Title
- Name of the publisher/source
- When the video was published
- A short description (when available)
- Links other videos on the same topic (when relevant)
By default, the search results are sorted by date, but you can also sort by relevance or choose to display results from a particular period (last week, last month, last quarter, last year). There is no advanced search.
Indexed videos can also be browsed by topic or different categories like “News”, “Tech & Science” or “Sports”. The main page contains boxes of content in these categories and more. You can also choose from categories in the top menu.
If you sign up (it’s free), you can create your own personal web TV categories with TVBookmark. This way, you have all your favorite channels in one place.
Is it any good?
The front page design is clean and easy to navigate. The way the content is sorted into category boxes is convenient. However, some of the boxes have a “More” link, which will expand the list in the box, but not all, and this is frustrating. Clicking on the categories in the top menu takes you to a kind of category home page, but there is no way to display more than the default 20-30 stories.
The search results are mostly easy to understand. Unfortunately, there is no advanced search. I would have liked to have the option to search within categories.
This said, TVBookmark is a convenient one-stop-shop for online video content and as they expand the number of sources, it will be even more useful. For content like news and sports, it seems to be particularly useful.
