Pandia adds shopping search
Pandia launches a all-in-one link collection with shopping search engines and online stores.
When Pandia was launched in December 1998 is was actually presented as a link collection of online search tools. The front page was the predecessor of Pandia Powersearch, our current web search toolbox.
Pandia Powersearch soon became too big, however, and we now have specialized pages for news, metasearch, kids and teens, people search and radio search.
Today we added a new all-in-one search page, this time for online shopping resources.
It seems that people finally are getting over their fear for shopping on the Net and they find it both practical and addicitive.
We still have the cup Amazon.com sent us in the late nineties without us having ordered it. It turned out it was a bonus for loyal customers. That was a wake up call. It is extremely easy to click on that “Add to shopping cart” button, and we have books, CD and DVD collections to prove it!
Amazon.com and its siblings world wide are what we call online malls or superstores, being one of the categories found on the new Pandia Shopping Search page.
The other main category is the comparison shopping search engines. These normally get their results from a database based on information given from their partners (XML-feeds is a popular way of doing this). Some of them mix these results with regular web search results fetched from the Web.
Still, they have to make a living, so paid results are the norm. This means that it may make sense to combine comparison shopping searches with regular web searches.
We have also included direct links to the shopping section of the Pandia Plus Directory, giving you access to thousands of online stores world wide. The Pandia Plus Directory is powered by the volunteer based DMOZ project.
