A Pandia Search Tool Roundup
Pandia presents its new Pandia Web Search feature and more of its own search engines and search tools.
At Pandia Search Engine News we write so much about the search tools of others, that it is easy to forget that Pandia is actually a search site in its own right.

It is not that we consider ourselves a competitor of Google, Yahoo! and others — we wouldn’t write so much about them if that was the case. We are more like a supplement, giving you additional tools that might be of use in your quest for information and enlightenment.
All-in-one search pages
This is why we often present separate search forms with our own search engines on our all-in-one pages.
Our all-in-one pages are collection of links to a large number of online search engines and search tools. Hence the Pandia Powersearch page gives you links to all kinds of online search tools, while at the same time giving you a search form for our own metasearch engine. The Pandia Newsfinder does the same for online news.
The Pandia search forms
The search form of all these pages has a pull down menu that lets you choose among all of Pandia’s search tools.
In this pull down menu we have added options for what we consider to be some of the most useful search facilities on the web, everything from Yahoo! to the Wikipedia.
Today we have made some major changes to this pull down menu, and you can visit the Panda home page to test it out.
Pandia Web Search
We have added a new major option called Pandia Web Search. It fetches its result from the Google search engine, but with a little twist. As our readers start using this version, the search engine will start learning from you, and adjust the search results accordingly.
Google says it this way: “When you use site-flavored search, our learning technology will flavor your search results to be more customized to your site’s themes and topics.”
And the webmasters among our readers may like to know that this is part of Google’s AdSense service, meaning that you may build one for your own site if you want to.
New search alternatives
Furthermore we have removed some of the alternatives from the menu. There is no need for us to provide direct access to AltaVista, AlltheWeb and HotBot any more, as these fetch their results from search engines that are present in the list.
Instead we have added the possibility to search blogs and the Wikipedia directly from the Pandia home page.
Below find a complete list of the present options:
Pull down menu options - Pandia
Pandia Web Search is the Pandian flavor of the Google search engine. We have, as mentioned, adjusted the search algorithm somewhat, giving a boost to sites related to the topic of searching, search engines and search engine marketing.
Pandia Powersearch lets you search the Web using several search engines in one go. This can be very useful, as the search engine databases overlap to a far smaller degree than most believe.
The Pandia Plus Internet Directory is powered by the Open Directory Project, and edited by experts and enthusiasts from all over the world. Use this when searching the web for general information on a topic of interest.
Use Pandia News when searching the Web for news articles. The search engine fetches headlines from a large number of online news sources.
Select Pandia Radio Search when searching the web for online radio stations.
Beyond Pandia
The pull down menu also gives direct access to “non-pandian” search tools.
Yahoo! is the mother of all search directories and the world’s most popular search portal. Their search engine is partly based on the technology underpinning the old AltaVista and AlltheWeb search engines.
Google is the most popular search engine in the world. It is sorting results according to link popularity and more.
MSN is Microsoft’s response to Google’s rise as an Internet giant. It was built from scratch by the MSN engineers and researchers and gives decent search results.
Ask.com, previously known as Ask Jeeves, is the smallest of the big four search engines. It is definitely worth a try though!
Select “Dictionary” to check the spelling or meaning of an English word.
Select Answers.com to search through their huge database of answers to various questions taken from a large number of sources. They call it a encyclodictionalmanacapedia.
Select Wikipedia to search the very popular online encyclopedia. The content of Wikipedia is free, written collaboratively by people from all around the world. We are using Clusty’s version of Wikipedia search at the moment, as we find it a little bit more helpful than Wikipedia’s own.
Blog search lets you search one of the leading blog search engines. At the moment it is powered by Icerocket, but depending on the amount of spam we find, we might switch to another without notice.
Select “books”, “music” or “videos” to search the inventory of the world famous Amazon.com online store. The results will be presented by the Pandia Bookstore.
