Help to crack Google’s secret
Search engine Omgili wants your help to crack Google’s secret. Their experimental search engine Google@Omgili combines Omgili’s own answer search engine with Google search results. It is also an effort to find the most essential elements of Google’s user interface, so Omgili users can have the best of both worlds.
The look and feel of the search engine should be similar to Google’s, but it also includes some unobtrusive yet useful features.
The main benefit of Google@Omgili is that it finds forum discussions about the results Google returns. This way you can find more people who are interested in the same topics as you are, and get in-depth information through discussions about the topic you are researching.
Ran Geva, CEO at Omgili, says about this experiment:
“I personally found that if I don’t see the Google color scheme and logo on the results page, I just don’t trust those results. [...] We are providing you with an interface very similar to Google’s with search results from Google itself. We made searching other services a breeze and we provide more information without really cluttering the user interface.”
The purpose of the experiment is to find out how the interface can be made as simple and effective as Google’s and what changes it would take for users to change their default search engine to Google@Omgili.
