Pandia for kids and teens
Pandia Kids & Teens gives younger searchers access to search engines and directories adapted to their needs and interests.
Here at Pandia we enter the new year with some good news for parents, teachers and librarians:
Pandia Kids & Teens is out of beta and contains more tips, tricks and resources than ever.
The beta version has been online for a copuple of years. Even though we have a lot of admiration for Google, we decided not to make it a perpetual beta like Froogle, and after some tweaks and fixes it is now ready for 2006.
Pandia Kids & Teens is a collection of resources. The main feature is a search box where you can choose to search the web or browse a special Pandia Kids Directory.. The directory is based on the Open Directory Project.
The search box lets you choose Ask Jeeves for Kids, Yahooligans, or KidsClick.
You will also find a collection of search engines, directories and portals especially for children and families. There is also a link to an article for parents on how to stop your kids from finding offensive material on the Web.
Pandia Kids and Teens goes on to provide links to image search, Mp3 search and software downloads, which are some of the more popular activities for kids and teens online.
There is also a collection of tools to help with homework – encyclopedias, dictionaries and other reference tools.
To top it all off, there is a short and easy search tutorial for kids, explaining how the use the Pandia Kids & Teens search box and how to build a better search query.
