The Pandia Awards 2001

Pandia Award(Oslo, Norway March 15 2001) The Pandia Search Central, the online guide to Internet searching, has presented the first annual Pandia Awards. These awards are given to sites that provide exceptional tools for Internet searching, and to sites that give useful information on Internet searching and search engine optimization. Among this year's winners are Google, AltaVista and Search Engine Watch.

The Award for Best All-round Search Site was given to the search engine Google, for its user-friendly interface, its large database and its talent for finding relevant sites. Pandia's online poll revealed that Google is the favorite search site among Pandia's visitors.

The Award for Best Professional Search Site was won by AltaVista. It got the award for its strong support for advanced searching and its extensive guides to Internet searching and search engine promotion.

Danny Sullivan's Search Engine Watch site received the Award for Best Site on Searching, due to its wide coverage and good insight into all things search engine.

The Award for the Best Search Engine Forum was given to Webmaster World, because of its lively discussions that generate a lot of useful information for webmasters and researchers.

Alan M. Schlein was given the Pandia Award for Best Publication on Internet Searching for the book Find it Online. This because of his insight into the world of Internet searching and research, and his ability to present this knowledge in a clear and informative manner.

Finally, Tara Calishain of ResearchBuzz was awarded the Pandia Award of Honour for her services to the search, research and information communities, and for her great ability to find, assess and present news and resources of interest to Internet searchers.
