Yahoo hack attack

February 2000

Hackers attacked Yahoo on February the 7th, taking the site off line for three hours. One theory holds that the hackers used a program that takes control of servers around the net, making them send numerous fake messages or so-called "acknowledgements" to the Yahoo site. The day after some other major sites were attacked, like Ebay, CNN and Amazon.
