Go goes in a new direction

New Go logo In November we told you about the conflict between Disney's Go portal and the smaller GoTo search engine on the similarity of their green and yellow logos (see news archive). Go has now lost the appeal, and -- indeed -- there is a new logo on the Go home page (although the old one keeps popping up on banners and buttons).

Go is the home of the Infoseek search engine, a veteran in the field of Internet searching, and a very good one as well. The idea of turning Go/Infoseek into a major portal has not been extremely successful, though. That is why Go has announced that it will become an entertainment and leisure destination rather than an "all purpose" website like Yahoo!, AOL.com and Lycos. It seems that the Infoseek search engine will remain, though.
