He and an impressive number of search engine marketing bloggers have moved over to Search Engine Land. Search Engine Land is a blog covering all aspects of the search engine industry, searching and search engine optimization. A must read! John Battelle’s SearchblogJohn Battelle has an impressive CV: visiting professor of journalism at Berkeley, co-founder of Wired magazine, founder of the Industry Standard etc. He also happens to be one of the world’s foremost experts on search engines and has written the well-known book Search on Google. So, he definitely has his ear to the ground, and his Searchblog is full of relevant news and analysis. It has a good mix of in depth articles and short references to what other bloggers have to say about search and the search engine industry. The blog also contains a small Web 2.0 digg-like folksonomy called SearchMob where readers can propose and vote on relevant online articles. Search Engine JournalPandia Award Winner Search Engine Journal remains one of the best search engine blogs online. We are probably seduced by the clean, uncluttered design, but the articles remains substantial and informative, and writers like Loren Baker and Greg Sterling do keep track of the essentials. Yes, Search Engine Journal deserves a bookmark. SEO by the SeaSEO by the Sea has the most poetic blog name within the search engine marketing arena. It is also the name of the SEO firm of the blogger himself, William Slawski, one of the administrators of Cre8asite Forums. He is also a correspondent for Search Engine Watch. The blog covers the whole field of search engine marketing. Bill is particularly good at using search engine patents in his analysis of search engine company strategies and innovation. Moreover, this is the place to track academic papers on search and searching. Matt CuttsMatt Cutts has an advantage no other blogger in this area has: he works at Google. He is very generous with inside information and gives hands on practical search engine optimization advice. Needless to say, we do read and recommend his blog. Search Engine ShowdownSearch Engine Showdown is the place to go when you are looking for search site statistics in general, including -- for instance -- the sizes of the various search engines. However, there is more to this site than numbers. Search Engine Showdown has grown to include detailed search engine reviews, an online newsletter, information on search strategies and more. It covers the traditional search engines and directories, as well as engines devoted to news and Usenet searching. Search Engine Showdown is edited by Greg Notess, a writer and speaker who has been researching and covering Internet information resources since 1990. Traffick - The Guide to PortalsTraffickhas a lot of information on portals, including search sites like Yahoo and Google that gives you a lot more than a simple search form. There is a news column, traffic reports (with company information, news etc.), links to search oriented sites, a couple of new discussion forums and more. Traffick supplies information on searching the Net, as well as features that are not directly search related. Take a look! Search Engine GuideSearch Engine Guide is well worth a visit. It contains a searchable directory of search engines, articles written by experts from the search engine marketing industry, newsletters and news. The site's main focus is on optimizing Web pages for search engine positioning. There is also a daily newsletter edited by Robert Clough, giving you the latest news headlines on searching the Net, including some (we admit it) you'll not find at Pandia. AboutAbout is what we can call an "alternative" Web directory for the net. As well as links to various online resources, it includes articles on searching the Net. This can be very useful indeed, as some of the links in the standard directories are more than cryptic. All in all About has more than 100 articles on Net searching in their archives. Furthermore, the site has a rather active discussion forum, which also brings you news from the world of Internet searching. Alt Search EnginesAlt Search Engines focuses on alternatives to the big search engines. The site helps you identify search tools that may help you search the Web in a new and more productive way. Alt Search Engines is also good at covering so-called vertical, topic-oriented, search engines. (See also: New site on alternative search engines).See also:
