Advanced search query syntax and rulesIf you know a bit about advanced searching, you will benefit greatly from using the Pandia Q-cards. We have made special pages for some of the major search engines and directories that sum up their features and search syntax. Examples show you how to formulate queries. If you are a newcomer to advanced searching, take a look at our Goalgetter tutorial. It is short and easy and will give you the basics needed to get the information you need faster and more efficiently. These are the Q-cards: Note that AlltheWeb and AltaVista no longer can be considered separate search engines. Since they were bought by Yahoo! they only serve as fronts to the same database as you find at the Yahoo! site. Note also that the default search engine at HotBot is powered by the Inktomi search index, which is -- also -- a variant of Yahoo!
