Post Newsletter No. 12 2002 Part 3
SITESEEING RankWrite RoundtableNewsletter on search engine marketing. Here is a site for all you amateur search engine optimizers out there. Jill Whalen and Heather Lloyd-Martin writes an informative, personal and very entertaining newsletter on search engine optimization and marketing. They adhere to what we call the "pragmatic school" of search engine optimization, meaning that they are not so obsessed with calculating the keyword frequencies and densities of the individual webpages. Instead they recommend a more longterm strategy of building content rich sites with carefully selected keywords present in the most important elements of the webpages (title-fields, headlines, first paragraph of text etc.). Actually, even professional search engine marketing experts have a lot to learn here Jill and Heather also focus on the art of good copy writing, an art that tends to suffer in the hands of webmasters trying to impress search engines more than readers. Your number 1 listing in Google is not much worth if the visitors leave your site after having read the first paragraph of keyword-rich text. You may send them search engine marketing questions to be answered in their free weekly newsletter. The RankWrite homepage can be found at http://www.rankwrite.com/ IMPORTANT UPDATE MARCH 7 2002: RankWrite has been discontinued, to be replaced by a new newsletter, the HighRanking's Advisor, edited by Jill Whalen. |
