Searching the Web - Help

Searching the WebPandia Search Central, your online guide to searching the Web, has its own search facilities.

Use the pull down menu to select search directory, index or engine. Enter your search query in the text field and click on "Search!" Just enter two or three words if you are unfamiliar with the search syntax rules of the various search services.

If you are searching the Web for an exact phrase -- like "European Union" -- enclose the words with double quotation marks.

If you want to make sure a certain word is present on the pages found by the search engine, put a plus-sign in front of the word, like this: +lion. There should be no space between the + and the word.

If you want to exclude pages that has a certain word, put a minus-sign in front of the word, like this: -elephant. This will work in most search engines.
